Ranking Of The Best Twin Bassinets

I did my research on the best bassinets for twins – I didn’t want to get two single bassinets because it would clutter our bedroom, that’s why I wanted to go for a double bassinet. There were not so many options available on the market, but I managed to find a few twin bassinets that turned out to be really convenient to use!

Here are the best and safest twin bassinets recommended by hundreds of parents and baby sleep experts.

1. Halo BassiNest Twin Sleeper

This is hands down the best twin co-sleeper bassinet – it provides safe separate sleep space for two babies and it’s so convenient to use thanks to adjustable design.

Review

Halo Twin BassiNest is a co-sleeper and has adjustable height. This means you can set it right next to your bed and adjust its height so it actually sits on top of your mattress.

This way you’ll be able to keep your little ones close to you at night.

And when it’s time for mid-night feeding or when you need to soothe your crying babies, you will have an easy access to your twins thanks to patented lowering bedside wall.

Another great feature is that this twin bassinet swivels full 360 degree (it doesn’t have wheels, but the top part where the babies sleep rotates).

You won’t have to get out of bed or bend down when taking babies out of this double bassinet. It’s a game-changer for women after C-section, as well as breastfeeding mamas.

Even though one child will be sleeping further away from you, it will be easy to check on both babies at night and comfort them – you just need to rotate the cradle.

Halo Bassinet For Twins swivels away so you could easily get out of bed

The base of twin bassinet slides under the adult bed so you don’t have to worry about legs sticking out and you tripping up over them.

The interior dimensions are approx. 35″ x 35″ and in the middle there is a thin mesh wall which divides it for two separate sleep spaces. It’s a clever and safe solution and meets the AAP recommendations for twins’ safe sleep to have separate sleep space because it reduces the risk of SIDS.

Your twins can sleep in this double bassinet until they reach 20 pounds (each) or 5 months, or show signs of pushing up on hands and knees or rolling over.

Halo twin bassinet comes with waterproof mattress pads, two polyester fitted sheets and two cotton tight fitted sheets.

Keep in mind that you can put twins in Halo Bassinet, but only in this BassiNest Twin Sleeper. Other bassinets from Halo BassiNest collection: Premier, Luxe, 3.0, Flex and Glide are single, and they are designed only to accommodate one baby at a time.

Is The Halo Twin Bassinet Worth It?

I think the Halo twin bassinet is well worth the money because it’s designed with babies’ safety and parents’ convenience in mind.

It’s a co-sleeper bassinet and allows you to keep your newborn babies close to and quickly respond to their needs. Thanks to swivel function it is so easy to take babies in and out, without getting out of bed.

It’s a fantastic solution for breastfeeding or C-section moms.

Halo bassinet for twins allows you for safe co-sleeping, without bed-sharing and provides your twins with separate sleep spaces.

Another feature that I like is that Halo Twin BassiNest has mesh walls for maximum breathability and visibility.

What distinguishes it from many other double bassinets, is that it has soothing features like lullabies and nature sounds, vibrations and a night light. This means you won’t have to pay extra for sound machine, and vibrations may help you to lull babies to sleep.

And because the base tucks under the adult bed, this bedside co-sleeper doesn’t take up that much space!

Reasons To Get Halo Bassinet For Twins

  • Space-saver
  • Babies sleep close to each other but in separate spaces
  • Rotating bassinet – it’s convenient for moms recovering from C-section and for nursing
  • It’s a safe co-sleeper bassinet
  • Extra feature like sounds, night light and vibrations
  • Spacious sleeping areas (babies grow so fast!)

Keep In Mind

You will need bigger budget for this twin bassinet, but it’s totally worth it!

2. Simmons Kids By The Bed City Sleeper Bassinet For Twins

In my opinion this is the best double bassinet for parents on a tight budget, as well as for small spaces.

Review

If you don’t have a lot of free space in your bedroom, this is a great option for you, because Simmons Kids bassinet for twins has really compact design (dimensions of the frame: 30″ x 30″).

It has 5 height positions so you can adjust it to your mattress, and the slim Z-shape frame with wheels just slides under your bed – saving your floor space.

By the way, Simmons Kids single bassinet is so small and compact that I chose it for my ranking of the best bassinets for small spaces.

Keep in mind that the wheels may not roll that smoothly on a carpet. However, according to many parents it’s not a deal-breaker because once you set up the bassinet, it will stay in place.

Except for a space-saving size and affordable price, this twin bassinet has one more advantage: there are multiple storage pockets for babies’ essentials like diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, burp clothes or teethers.

What you are going to like about Simmons Kids twin bassinet is that it keeps babies perpendicular to your bed so both of them are close to you at night and it’s easy to keep an eye on them or take them out for feeding.

Simmons Kids By The Bed City Sleeper For twins
This twin bassinet has unique design keeps both babies close to you at night

When I was recovering from C-section, a bedside bassinet for my twins was a life-saver because I didn’t have to get out of bed and bend down to take them out of the bassinet when they cried or when it was nursing time.

The sleeping space is divided with a mesh wall and keeps babies separated at night. There are also mesh vents on two sides of the bassinet for extra airflow.

This double bassinet comes with two separate mattress pads which are 1″ thick – it’s the perfect thickness for newborn babies. Two machine-washable sheets are included too.

Reasons To Get This Twin Bassinet

  • Compact size and small footprint
  • Cheapest best twin bassinet
  • Useful storage pockets
  • Keeps babies perpendicular to parents’ bed – it’s easier to respond to their needs (without getting out of bed!)
  • Bedside co-sleeper with adjustable height

Keep In Mind

On the bedside wall there’s no mesh (for peaking through), so you will need to lift yourself a bit to check on your babies.

3. Baby Trend Retreat Twins Nursery Center Playard

Baby Trend Twin Bassinet is one of the best-sellers and parents’ favorite. No wonder! It is a multi-functional product: pack n play with twin bassinets (that also double as rockers) and a changing table, plus tons of features for parents’ convenience.

Baby Trend Retreat Twins Nursery Center
Baby Trend Retreat Twins Nursery Center Playard

Review

Baby Trend Retreat differs a lot from two previously reviewed best twin bassinets (Simmons Kids and Halo).

It is a playard with two small rock-a-bye bassinets attached at the top. The bassinets are removable and convert into stand-alone rockers.

You can also switch one of the bassinets for a changing table.

Underneath the rock-a-bye bassinets there is a full-size bassinet mattress pad – which you can also remove to allow your child to play or rest in the playard.

Even though this is an inexpensive playard bassinet combo it’s really versatile and well-equipped.

Each bassinet features soothing center with nature sounds and music, vibrations and night light, and two hanging toys to entertain baby and help them to calm down before sleeping.

Bassinets are also equipped with canopies and carry handles. You are also going to like the mesh sides which keep babies from overheating and ensure proper ventilation inside the bassinet.

That’s not all!

There’s also a parent organizer with a large storage pocket for diapers, another one for wipes, and two extra pouches for burp clothes and teethers – so you could always keep all necessities at hand.

Baby Trend Retreat Twin Bassinet is well equipped

Thanks to wheels you can move the bassinet around easier, without carrying it (or scratching your floor!). There is also locking mechanism to ensure the pack n play stays securely in place, even when your baby twins wiggle a lot.

And last but not least, this Twin Nursery Center includes a travel bag – which is super useful for travels or storing this whole thing for next baby when your twins outgrow it.

Reasons To Get These Bassinets For Twins

  • It is really versatile – includes pack n play playard and changing station
  • It has lots of features that pricier bassinets for twins do not have! (tons of storage space, vibration, sounds, and the bassinets double as portable rockers)
  • Lots of mesh vents on bassinets’ and pack n play sides
  • The playard securely locks in place
  • Affordable price

Keep In Mind

Baby Trend playard takes more space than Halo or Simmon Kids double bassinet. It has completely different design than bedside twin co-sleepers and you can’t adjust it to your bed height.

Each part of this Twins Nursery Center has different weight limit – make sure to follow the manufacturer guidelines to keep your twin babies secure at all times (and keep the pack n play/bassinet combo stable).

  • Playard: From birth to 30 lbs/ 35″ in height
  • Full-size bassinet: From birth up to 15 lbs/ 25″ in height
  • Rock-a-bye bassinets: From birth up to 3 months/ 15 lbs/ 25″ in height (whichever comes first)
  • Changing table: From birth up to 3 months/ 15 lbs/ 22″ in height (whichever comes first)

4. Joovy Room² Twin Nursery Center With Bassinets

This is an option for parents who like multi-functional and convertible baby gear. Joovy Nursery Center attaches to Room² playard and converts it into a bassinet for one or two babies.

Joovy Room2 Twin Nursery Center
Joovy Room2 Twin Nursery Center

Keep in mind that I’m reviewing only the Nursery Center accessory – the playard is sold separately here.

Review

Joovy Twin Nursery Center is a bassinet mattress that attaches at the top of the Room² pack n play and a divider that zips into place and allows to create two separate sleep spaces.

This way your newborn twins stay close to each other and close to their mama.

This smart solution is safe both for nap time, as well as overnight sleeping.

At any time you can remove the divider and use it as one large bassinet (for one child). I only wish this divider was mesh, then I would feel less stressed in case one of my child rolls into the middle part.

This bassinet accessory easily click onto the playard frame with special clips on each side. The assembly is really simple and doesn’t take up a lot of time.

This twin bassinet also comes with a waterproof sheet and a changing table that attaches above bassinets. When it’s not in use, you can just flip it over to the side of the pack n play.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I know this may seem like a pricey investment for such a short period of time, but keep in mind that most bassinets can be used up to 3-6 months, because by that time babies learn how to push themselves on hands and knees, as well as roll over.

Most parents get a playard anyway, but what distinguishes Joovy Room² playard is that it converts into twins bassinet (and a changing station). Having a 3in1 device allows you to save money and space at your place.

So if you’re planning to buy a pack n play as well, Room² is definitely a fantastic choice because it can be used in various ways and for longer period.

Room2-Twin-Nursery-Center features a changing table and it works with Joovy pack n play
This is a multi-functional baby gear: pack n play, double bassinet and a changing table

I’m just going to briefly mention a few functions of the playard that I really like. It has two wheels that make it easy to set right next to your bed or move to another room.

This whole thing: Room² playard + bassinets accessory, not only has lower price than Halo twin bassinet, but it’s also an investment for years, because the pack n play can be used until your babies reach 35 inches in height (it is the same limit as for full-size cribs!). It’s also a great travel bed for infants and toddlers.

Remember that the playard itself, without the bassinet attachment and divider, can be used only by one baby at a time.

Reasons To Get This Twin Bassinet

  • 3in1 product: bassinet for twins, pack n play & changing table (budget-friendly and space-saving solution)
  • Multi-functional
  • It’s an investment for years (playard itself can be used until baby is 35″ tall)
  • Pack n play is a good choice for travel or weekends at grandma’s

Keep In Mind

The changing table has maximum capacity of 22 pounds, while the bassinet mattress pad can hold up to 30 pounds total. It’s the same weight limit whether you use it for one or two babies. As a bassinet for twins it will serve you up to 4-5 months.

5. Graco Pack ‘N Play Playard With Twins Bassinet

This is a similar option to the previously reviewed Joovy, but with Graco you have everything included in the price: pack n play and two oval bassinets with canopies.

Graco Pack 'N Play Playard With Twins Bassinet

Review

Bassinets attach on top of the playard with secure clips.

In contrast to Joovy Room², Graco has two separate bassinets (instead of one mattress with a divider in the middle).

The bassinets look very similar to stroller bassinets and even have canopies for extra privacy and coziness. Each has thin and firm quilted mattress pad – designed to support infant’s delicate back (you should not add any extra mattress topper or pad).

Each bassinet can hold a baby up to 15 pounds.

What’s noteworthy, the playard itself can be used from birth and up to 35″ in height (or when baby starts to show signs of being able to climb out), but only for one child.

Graco pack n play playard will also come in handy during travels, when you stay at a hotel or spend a night at grandparents’ house.

Graco Pack 'N Play Playard With Twins Bassinet has lots of mesh vents
This pack n play is equipped with two wheels which make it easier to move it from one room to another.

It has mesh on all sides so you can rest assure it will keep your little ones from overheating and sweating. And you’ll be able to keep an eye on your baby at any time.

Reasons To Get These twin Bassinets

  • 2in1 pack n play & bassinet combo for a reasonable price
  • All parts are included, you don’t need to buy anything separately
  • Two small single bassinets keep twins separate and safe at night (decreased risk of suffocation)
  • Removable bassinets – underneath there’s a nice pack n play with 4 mesh sides, perfect for a growing child
  • The playard can serve you as a portable bassinet for travel or sleepover at grandparents’

Keep In Mind

This pack n play bassinet combo is quite big so you will need more space on the floor for it.

You can place in right next to your bed, but it’s not a bedside co-sleeper and it doesn’t have adjustable height.

Features To Look Out For In The Best Bassinet For Twins

Are you expecting twins and on the hunt for the best bassinet for your little ones? Here are the functions that a good bassinet for twins should have.

Safety

Safety first! The best twin bassinet should feature 2 separate sleeping spaces (“together, but separate”). And always remember: “back to sleep, belly to play”.

Other important thing to check are:

  • JPMA certification
  • Non-toxic materials (free of: VOCs, lead, and popular allergens)
  • Features a firm mattress (don’t add any toper and do not replace the original mattress because it increases the risk of SIDS!)
  • Mesh walls for maximum breathability and visibility

Easy To Clean

Because things like diaper blowouts and leakage or spill outs will happen, having an easy-to-clean bassinet for twins will make your life easier.

Look for bassinet with two waterproof mattress pads (or even better: washable pads!) and machine-washable fitted sheets.

Mesh Bassinet Walls

I’m not a fan of twin sleeper bassinets that have plush fabric walls. I prefer bassinets that have mesh walls because this way I can easily check on my baby at night when I’m in bed. Plus, the mesh reduces the risk of overheating and will keep your infants from getting all sweaty.

Height-Adjustable

The best bassinet for twins should feature adjustable height – if you want to use it as a bedside sleeper. This way you’ll be able to adjust it to your mattress height.

Easy Access To Both Children

Whether you decide to breastfeed or use formula, during the first few months your children will wake up multiple times at night for feeding.

That’s why it’s so convenient to have a bedside bassinet and keep your little ones right next to you at night. And the best bassinets for twins ensure that mama has easy and quick access to both newborns.

That’s why I like the swivel function in Halo bassinet and perpendicular design of Simmons Kids twin bassinet.

Weight Limit

If you’re going to invest in a twin bassinet, it should have decent weight limit so you could put it to good use.

The best bassinet holds twins even up to 40 pounds (20 lbs each).

Portability & Size

If you’re going to move your twin bassinet around the house a lot, make sure to choose one with wheels.

You will need more floor space for a double bassinet than a single bassinet. If you don’t have a lot of free room at your place, choose one with slim base that tucks away under parents’ bed.

Storage

Many bassinets feature storage pockets for baby essentials like diapers, wipes, pacifiers or burp cloths. It’s convenient to keep them at hand.

Built-In Soothing Center

It’s not a must-have, but some mothers find it useful to have built-in soothing nature sounds or motions which help to soothe fussy infants. Nightlight may be also useful.

My favorite best double bassinet for small spaces (Simmons Kids, reviewed above) doesn’t have any soothing sounds, but that wasn’t a deal breaker for me. Sound machine with a nightlight like Hatch Baby Rest (or its upgraded version Hatch Rest+) does the job really well helping baby fall asleep!

Double Bassinet Vs. Two Separate Bassinets For Twins

New moms may feel confused whether it’s better to choose a double bassinet with two separate sleep areas or go for two single bassinets – one for each newborn.

There are three major factors that you should consider when choosing between these two options:

  • Do you have a lot of free space at home?
  • Do you want to keep babies next to your bed at night?
  • What’s your budget?

Two separate baby bassinets will definitely take up way more space than a double bassinet. If you have a really large bedroom or spacious nursery you may want to go for this solution.

If you’re short on free space at your home, double bassinet will be better choice.

Moreover, this two single bassinets it’s harder to keep both babies close to you at night. On the other hand, with a twin double bassinet both of your newborns will stay right next to you the whole night.

The last thing you should consider is the price – usually getting two well-equipped and good quality bassinets will cost you more than buying a twin bassinet (unless you decide to go for two very simple no-frills travel bassinets).

Best Twins Bassinet – FAQ

Here are some safety tips and important information about the best bassinets for twins.
